CommonSpace CLT Board President Darryl Berlin was invited by North Bay Organizing Project to participate in a workshop on Community Land Trusts @ Sonoma County Tenants Union (SCTU), event Right to A Roof!!
It was a very inspiring event and demonstrated the power of this growing movement for renters’ rights, with community activists pushing back on landlords/speculators trying to price people out of their homes.
The event was bilingual, with majority of presentations by Latinx speakers directly affected by rising rents and unlawful evictions. The CLT workshop was presented by a Latinx woman who connected the CLT movement to the roots of the Ejido Land Reform movement in Mexico.
